Phylogenomics & biogeography of Calceolaria

Resolving the phylogenetic backbone of Andean slipperflowers

Before starting my PhD, I worked as a data analyst in the Espíndola Lab extracting, aligning, and annotating chloroplast genomes across 14 Calceolaria (Calceolariaceae) species — Andean slipperflowers — toward resolving the genus’s phylogenetic backbone and modeling its biogeographic history ((Frankel et al., 2022)).

I’ve continued working with Calceolaria as a postdoc in the Tribble Lab, now estimating the relationship between niche overlap and hybridization histories across the genus.
