Introgression & trait evolution in Neotropical bellflowers

Hybridization and floral trait evolution in Campanulaceae, Lobelioideae

The Neotropical bellflowers (Campanulaceae: Lobelioideae) are a rapid, spectacular plant radiation with striking floral diversity. For my dissertation, I combined herbarium phylogenomic data with the accuracy-tested methods from my other work to assess the relationship between introgression and trait evolution across this clade.

This built on earlier phylogenomic work resolving relationships within the group ((Lagomarsino et al., 2022)), and the resulting study on introgression and trait evolution ((Frankel et al., Forthcoming)) is currently in revision. This project was done in collaboration with the Lagomarsino Lab and Dr. Cécile Ané.
